On Thursday (April 21) my Grandpa passed away after battling with
cancer. We are grateful that he is in a better place now and has left this
earth for his heavenly home. My Grandpa was one of the most faithful people I
will ever know, and a tremendous example of what it takes to make a marriage
work.
Seeing the amount of people he impacted in his life as a pastor has been
amazing to see.
I remember playing basketball with him as a kid on their basketball
court in Waitsburg. We would have games of horse that would go on for awhile. I
also remember my basketball games (both home and away), concerts, and other
events them always being there! Whether it was a good game or a bad game he was
always there with encouragement and support. Could he ever cheer on our team as
well, and I pitied the official that made a call against me.
I of course remember his love for the Utah Jazz!
As I grew up and had kids it was amazing watching him with our kids. One
of the most recent pictures I have from February 28th is of him down on his
hands and knees to help our daughter find a book. That is how he always was
with the kids. He would get at their level and his entire face would light up.
There are other fond memories I have including the big green pickup and
camper and the many camping trips and discovering that cheese is better with
BBQ sauce.
I remember at the age of 10 riding in a car with him to Pullman for what
was my first football game at Washington State University and listening to John
Phillips Sousa the whole way!
I love you Grandpa and you will be missed.

If you remember any quaint sayings my Dad used to say, please send them to me. I would like to make a post of his funny sayings.
