From David Counts (grandson)

One of my greatest memories of Grandpa is helping him with a construction project. When I was 12 years old he asked me to help him build a large garage on their property in Waitsburg. He gave me a new hammer, a tool belt, and a hard hat and we went to work. He taught me how to hammer a nail, use a plumb line, and measure twice before cutting a board. I loved getting to spend time with him climbing ladders, learning from him, and creating something together. One of the times we were on the roof screwing down the roofing we came up one screw short which left an open pre-drilled hole in the sheet metal. I asked him what we were going to do and he smiled, pulled his chewing gum out of his mouth, shoved it into the hole and said, "that ought to do it!"

I'm incredibly thankful that he walked faithfully with Jesus for nearly 70 years. I'm part of his spiritual legacy that stretches into three generations.

If you remember any quaint sayings my Dad used to say, please send them to me. I would like to make a post of his funny sayings.
